The Family Bandwagon

Our family is spread out across the country and across the world, and what better way to keep in touch than a collaborative digital journal?

Sunday 20 May 2007

School is excellent so far. We have learned heaps of stuff and on Wednesday we're having the cross country and I'm going. (Regionals) I came 3rd in my age group at school and I won an award for trying and having a go at sport.
Lion training is great. The Dalai Lama is coming to Bendigo and we are performing at the Great Stupa opening. I get a day off school.
Today Jamie is here because he came over for a sleep over last night. We watched Night at the Museum and a racing movie which was funny.

  1. Wow, performing for His Holiness the Dalai Lama is a massive honor Jared, well done. When is the Great Stupa opening? Last time I saw it they just had the foundations down, so they must have done a lot of work in the last few years :)

For anyone interested, the Great Stupa of Universal Compassion (basically a big Buddhist temple) will be the largest Stupa in the southern hemisphere. They're bringing works of Buddhist art from all over the world to go into it, as well as carving a large Buddha statue out of jade.

  2. I think the opening is the 7th of June. They have to build a heli pad too, since that is how His Holiness is arriving apparently. Unfortunately only team members can catch the bus out there although I suggested Adam go and have a look. I can't imagine taking Trinity into a place that can hold around 1000 people :S I think he is going to be at the town hall first too.

  3. It would be very cool to meet the Dalai Lama. Have you seen the movie Kundun? Might be a bit long but it's cool seeing how he lived as a kid!

Another "largest" for Australia! Perhaps a little more dignified than the Banana, Pineapple, Lobster, Merino, Earthworm ... ? :-P

  4. Sounds like it will be a great day, Jared. You're very lucky!

Glenn, don't forget the largest Rocking Horse in Gumeracha (I love that name!). And sadly no, it does not rock :(
