Church St Chatter

Another fortnight since a post.
Apart from dancing, Clive and I had a two day trip to Swan Hill last week. Went up Wednesday as photos on FB show, stayed with Clive's sister and brother in law and had dinner at Murray Downs where we hoped to dance but it was cancelled at the last minute so no dancing. We do Rock and roll on Tuesday's. Not as much variety as ballroom but no travelling needed so we can have much earlier nights. Up to advanced group now.
I've been making felt flowers after we had a workshop at Spinners. Also starting with organising for next year's Deb Ball (need a new photographer) and that went well.
Mum bought a Nutribullet when they had a buy one get one free deal so she bought one for me as well. Yet to try it.
Managed to get Mum transferred to my doctor as she has been very unhappy with the doctor she was transferred to when her doctor retired. I've booked for a flu shot on 5th May. Have heard of several people having a reaction to it so hope any adverse reaction is short lived.
Garden is neglected but I did plant some snow peas, spinach and onions. Zucchini plants are still trying but their coordination is off so I get a batch of female flowers then a batch of male flowers but that doesn't get the fertilization happening. Also found some old marigold seeds so they went in the front just before we finally had some rain. Weather has been beautiful apart from lack of rain but is cooling down now so heater is on.
Still attempting to declutter and I have drop offs at the op shop occasionally. I also buy at op shop so just hope it at least balances out.
Dayna, I saw there is a Dance sport group at Cardiff Uni. How much is dance and how vigorous is the sport? So many dances that we can go north and not know half of the dances so not sure how I'd go in Wales but I'd be interested to see what they do.
Quiet night in tonight. First Sunday in three weeks without a dance afternoon.
Josie and family had a great time in America although Mason was sick when he had the helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon.
We have a blessing ceremony for Ryan Chatham on the 9th May (Chris and Emma)
Planning an afternoon tea here on 7th June for Mum's 90th birthday.

Planning a trip

After a wonderful two weeks visit from Dayna and Bruce, I decided to start sorting my visit to them. Got some prices on an April to June stay. At the moment Malaysia or Qatar are offering the best prices from Flight Centre. Dayna, what dates would suit you. I guesstimated 26th April to 25th June on my request but wanted to check on any dates to suit you. Best to get to London on a weekend? and similar for leaving?

Val and Peter Loomes are coming for a visit this weekend. Probus on Monday, Spinners on Wednesday, Denise Drysdale on Friday. Need to fit in visit to Fairthornes and make some Christmas puddings. Not sure if Denise's birthday dinner is the 19th or 26th. Trinity tells me her school fair is this Friday and I have a Red Hat meeting on Friday afternoon.

Visitors mean I'll clean on Saturday morning and I've already washed sheets and remade the spare bed. Think we might have fish and chips or chinese for tea.(so much for my diet?) Still trying to get some order in my room but at least I've put the suitcase away and most of the now clean clothes. Wondering how your flight went Dayna and Bruce.

Today I weeded the tomato bed. Mostly I weeded out tomatoes and pumpkins so I've tried to plant them in better places. After much rain, I was amazed at how dry the ground was in some places. This is why my house still needs work. Jared will come and mow again over the weekend. Much needed although it's only been a week and a half since he last did it.

Hope Carolynn's exam went well today.

Back on the knitting that is still very confusing. fingers crossed it will work out in the end.

A busy day

Feeling very weary but pleased with what I've accomplished. I also washed and polished the kitchen floor and did a load of washing (still to put that away). The pic shows the old heater from Denise and Pete, which was in front of garage doors, moved next to the shed where there used to be lots of cut up wood to be burned. Moving it just around the corner was the best I could manage. There is still some cut up wood for Nana, Denise and Pete and the chiminea as well as some in a drum down the back. Even moved some old wheels round to the side where I can forget them. Other outside jobs done were poisoning the weeds and feeding the lemon tree and I made sure I didn't mix those up.
Cooking is on the to do list but Monday pm or Tuesday look good for that.

Backyard blitz and a silver lining

Hi all. Since the volcano meant Dayna and Bruce stayed an extra ten days, we got the artificial turf laid and that inspired me to tidy the edges with pavers. Lisa helped there as well as help while the turf was laid and sand swept in.
Today I got more pavers and replaced the old ones under the pots and also did the walk into the vege garden. Also trimmed the edge of the path and sprayed to discourage the ants. Maybe rain is coming.
I'll try for photos yet again.

Gardening

Damien and I did a bit of gardening today. We've started a vegie patch in one of the corners, a little herb garden in another area, and also planted a couple of native shrubs. It was a lot of fun! Hopefully the weather is nice again next weekend so we can work on it some more.

Housey house stuff

Today (after a minor freak out with the car and a call to RAA, but that's another story) we picked up the keys to our new house! We took out some stuff, and we'll take out more as well before the removalists arrive (7am tomorrow)

Here's some photos we took while out there... there's not many inside the rooms because really, all the rooms look pretty similar :)









Also, they're not in the photos but Cheryl's friend Bron bought us a couple of garden gnomes! We put one in a clear place, and the other is hidden a bit further back. I think the house really has character, especially that back yard. Plus the second shed is huge! I'm already planning a gym/games room in there ;)

We look forward to all of you visiting, and we'll add some more photos when our rooms actually have furniture in them :)

a japanese garden?

Today the men from Epsom sand soil and bark dug out Nana's front lawn and replaced it with gravel and stones. Photos will be taken when it's all finished. Bit of a problem wiht the side driveway and the trucks so they're going to continue the compacted stone across to the garden bed.

I also went to Comet Hill for a fun hour with Jared.lisa and Trinity came too. We played maths games and saw some of Jared's work.
Yesterday I went with the kinder to the Discovery centre. Two girls from Questacon (Jena knew Dayna from the Circus) put on a show for the children. We followed the show with snack time then an hour exploring the rest of the Centre. Lots of changes since I was last there. One great discovery was the kaliedoscope area where under eights could play safely and we only had to watch the gate. After trying to keep track of three who all wanted to go different ways, that was a great find.
Another excursion tomorrow. This one is a walk to the local school with three year olds.
Two more weeks then a fortnight's holiday. We're going to Hay the first weekend for a Federation Ball. Bendigo Senior Secondary has a back to on the last weekend. Relaxing in between?
