Android is an operating system rather than an application -- i.e. it is the whole stack all the way from the UI down to the actual phone hardware. Like the difference between Ubuntu or Windows and OpenOffice...
That said, maybe someone has "ported" the Android OS to your particular phone ... what model is it?
Okay, I've had a look and I think that you can get a theme for the N97 that will make it LOOK like Android, but not actually install the OS. (N97 uses Symbian S60 OS instead.)
Which means you can't run Android apps, which is kind of the whole point of Android (the UI isn't particularly elegant, after all).
