Looking towards our holiday in July-August

We've been looking this weekend at where we can go in the last week of July. I've put the places and train times on a map on glennji.com now.

Any recommendations about things we must see?

  1. ooh.. looks like you're going to have a lot of fun..

i recommend heading to Werfen in Austria for a day - I took a day trip from Salzburg.. train trip, bus, then cable-car up the mountain, then a walk up to the "world's largest ice caves" ( Eisriesenwelt )... if you're lucky, they'll give you a piece of paper with the tour in english on it (the tour guide speaks in german)..

and then you can go into town and spend the afternoon at Burg Hohenwerfen (a real live castle!).. if you time it right, you can have a tour (with a real live tour guide (who speaks german) and big remote control looking handheld thingys that you can 'dial up' the english version).. AND get to see a Falcon show (that's the birds, not the car..heheh)..

definitely a recommend!! it's still one of the most memorable days of my trip - and that was 5 yrs ago! ;)
